Enjoy a picnic

Nothing says spring quite like a family picnic, don’t you think? Whether you hit your local playground, park or botanic garden, ensure you go with a picnic basket in tow – we’ve even shared five tasty picnic recipes for you right here. We love that picnics are both a fun and affordable way to enjoy a family meal, without having to worry about wriggly kids running away from the table. Just make sure you pack plenty of sun protection – time flies when you’re having fun, and it can be easy to forget to slip, slop, slap and slide those sunglasses on.

Try a farm stay

Is there anything cuter than children and animals? We think not. Get away from the hustle and bustle and breathe in that crispy country air while enjoying a family farm stay. Your children will love the new experiences that come with farm life (think feeding baby animals, picking fruit and veggies and riding in tractors) and you’ll love the photo opportunities that go along with it. Perfect. Best of all, this time of year ensures you won’t be beaten by the summer heat.

Hit the beach (or your local pool)

If there’s one thing we’re blessed with here in Australia, it’s beautiful beaches. Those of us living in coastal towns will be relishing the return of the warm weather, making long days at the beach the perfect way to enjoy time with the family. Even if you don’t live beachside, you can still splash your way through spring with a trip to your local pool or waterpark.

Follow the flowers

Florals for spring? Groundbreaking, we know. But that doesn’t mean finding flowers isn’t a great family activity, best enjoyed as the weather is just starting to warm (since you’ll likely be outside for a while!). You could visit your local botanic gardens, scope out a fresh farmers market or even find out whether a flower carnival will be coming to your town. It’s one of the most fragrant family activities around!

Get on your bike

Bike riding in summer can be a punish – the sweat makes you slip and slide off your seat, the kids tire quickly and you’re in serious need of some shade. Spring, on the other hand, is the perfect time for a family bike ride. You don’t even need to own bikes in order to enjoy this awesome spring activity! A quick Google will reveal the best bike rentals in your area.
