Children sure do have their quirks.  “He’s so…unique”, we say, when we find our two-year old sitting on the dog bed, wearing a brassiere as an eyepatch, licking a bongo drum.  While this individuality certainly makes life much more interesting, it can mean the process of selecting the right size clothing and accessories takes a little more time.  That’s why we’ve put together a Babiators sizing guide, to help you find the perfect size sunglasses for your little adventurers!

How do you choose the right size Babiators quickly?

The basic rule of thumb for selecting the right-size Babiators relates to age.  Generally speaking, little adventurers from 0-2 will usually fit the Junior size, and the Classic size suits most children aged 3-5.  Of course, those aged 6 upwards aren’t forgotten either.  The Aces range is the pick for youth sunglasses.

However, as we all know, sometimes our children don’t slot so easily into prescribed categories.

What if my child doesn’t fit the mould?

There are many children whose face shape may mean that they need the next size up.

One example of such a child is our little helper below, a two-year old who is just on the cusp between the Junior and Classic sizes.  We set out to determine the best children’s sunglasses for him.

In the first photo, handsome is wearing white Junior Aviators.  There are a few key signs that show us he is ready to graduate from Junior Babiators to Classic Babiators.

Babiators size 0-2 years

As the arrows in the first photo (top view) show, the arms of the sunglasses stretch out due to the width of his face.  This causes the sunglasses to begin to slide down the nose.  In the side photo, the arrow shows the arm of the sunglasses bending before the ear, instead of over the ear.

The next series of photos feature our international male model wearing grey Classic Babiators, a better fit for him.

In the first (top view) photo, as the arrows show, the arms of the sunglasses are parallel, and even tilted in a little.  This means the sunglasses fit more snugly against his face.  In the side photo, the arms of the sunglasses bend over the ear, creating a more secure fit.

Measurements for the Babiators range

There are two main measurements that are most useful in determining what the correct size sunglasses for you child will be.  These are the width of the front frame, and the length of the arms of the sunglasses.
